Let's get to the root of the problem.
Product & Results
How is Done different to other box dyes?
Done is a complete grey maintenance system designed specifically for root regrowth.
Created by world-leading colour experts, our salon-grade formula delivers 100% grey coverage in just 10 minutes. Powered by Conscious Colour™, it's free from Ammonia, PPD, Parabens, Resorcinol, Phthalates, Gluten, SLS and Titanium Dioxide, and is both vegan and cruelty-free.
Unlike traditional box dyes, our kits allow for multiple applications and include professional aftercare - Barrier Cream, Hydration Shampoo, Nourishing Conditioner and a Gloss Treatment - for salon-quality results at home.
How many applications does each kit contain?
One kit, multiple ways to use it. Get 2 quick touch-ups from a single kit when covering smaller areas like your part line or hairline, or use it for 1 full root retouch application.
If you'd like to split the kit into multiple applications, you’ll need our Mix Kit, which lets you measure and mix smaller quantities of colour and developer. The mixing ratio is simply 1:1. No kitchen scales required.
How do I pick the right shade?
Eenie, meenie, miney, mo. Kidding! Read our expert colour guide to help you select from 5 natural shades. It can be helpful to remember that a root touch-up is far less risky than dying your whole mane because you're only applying to a few centimetres of new growth.
Will this actually cover my greys?
Absolutely. The Ultimate Root Retouch Kit is made with professional-grade permanent colour (the same quality your salon uses), so you’ll get 100% grey coverage. No streaks, no see-through strands - just fresh, glossy colour that blends seamlessly with the rest of your hair. Grey hairs? Consider them done.
Is it easy to apply the colour?
We’ve made it foolproof. Prepare, colour, care - it’s as simple as 1, 2, 3, Done. Each kit comes pre-measured with everything you need and a step-by-step guide (no kitchen scales required). No mess, no stress, just great colour in 10 minutes. Check out this handy how-to guide for all the tips and tricks.
How long will the colour last?
On average, permanent hair colour lasts about 6–8 weeks before new roots make an appearance. The colour itself stays put - it’s the regrowth that keeps you coming back for more. That’s why our kit is designed for quick touch-ups at home, so you can stay on top of things without it costing hours of your day and half your paycheck.
Can I use Done if I already have coloured hair, balayage, or lighter ends?
Yep! The Ultimate Root Retouch Kit is made for regrowth - it blends seamlessly with previously coloured hair and won’t interfere with your balayage or lighter ends. The precision applicator makes it easy to target just the roots, while the Hydration Shampoo, Nourishing Conditioner and Gloss Treatment keep your colour fresh and your lengths nourished.
What if I choose the wrong colour?
No problem. If you feel like you've applied the wrong colour our Perfect Match Promise has you covered. Simply get in touch at hello@donehair.co and we'll offer you another shade to try free of charge.
Ingredients & Safety
Are your products vegan?
Our products are proudly vegan and cruelty-free. Kind to your hair, your scalp and the planet.
Do your products contain ammonia and PPD?
Nope. Absolutely not. We’ve left out ammonia, PPD and a long list of other ingredients whose names are as hard to say as they are to spell (parabens, phthalates, resorcinol and titanium dioxide). After all, you deserve colour without compromise.
Are your products suitable for sensitive skin?
Our Conscious Colour™ is free from Ammonia, PPD, Parabens, Resorcinol, Phthalates, Gluten, SLS and Titanium Dioxide. It's also fragrance-free which means there is no strong odour typically associated with traditional hair dyes.
Regardless of your skin type, it is always important to carry out an allergy test 48 hours before colouring your hair.
Are your products safe to use during pregnancy?
Many people do colour their hair when pregnant or breastfeeding but we always recommend checking with your care team first if you're concerned. As always, it is very important to carry out an allergy test 48 hours before colouring your hair.
Do I need to perform an allergy test before using your products?
Yes, always. Even if you’ve coloured your hair before. This is because allergies can develop over repeated exposure. It is very important to carry out an allergy test 48 hours before colouring your hair.
